La Grande Odyssée was created in January 2005 and, since its first edition, has been the annual sled dog event in Europe. It is the most demanding stage race in an alpine setting that is unique in the world.

Every year, an exceptional sporting event is expected, with more than 65 international mushers and their 600 top-level dog athletes covering nearly 400 km and 12,000 m of cumulative elevation gain in the superb landscapes of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

More than 60,000 spectators enjoy a unique experience every year, in the heart of 20 resorts, towns and villages in the region, dressed up for the occasion, as they watch La Grande Odyssée Royal Canin.
